The Shirasaya is a Japanese sword very similar to the katana but missing the circular guard, ray skin & wrapping; instead its simple & minimalist design gives out its elegance. The Shirasaya like the katana has a long grip to accommodate two hands. This sword was used by the samurai in feudal Japan & now is generally collected by sword collectors & enthusiast. This sword’s Habaki, Lockets & Mekugi are all made from brass; where as the grip & scabbard (Saya) of the sword is made from premium quality wood finished with a superior glossy wood coat. The sword is designed to be well balanced & can be wielded with one or two hands & is stiff enough to thrust & slash easily. The blade is hand forged & expertly tempered from superior quality high carbon steel & has a narrow fuller on both side of the blade.
