The Scimitar is derived from the Persian name Shamshir; this is a one–handed, single–edged sword with a convex curved blade. These types of swords are generally associated with Middle–Eastern, South–Asian & North–African cultures. The unique handle shape or blade curve of the scimitar can be seen in other swords such as Saif, Talwar, Nimcha & the Kilij. The pommel of the sword continues from the grip into a circular shaped bulge which prevents slipping when the sword is wielded; this entire unit is made from high quality hard wood which sandwiches the full tang blade of the sword; the cross guard is made from solid steel with a design pattern on it. This sword is designed to be well balanced & wielded with one hand & is stiff enough to thrust & slash easily. The blade is hand forged & expertly tempered from superior quality high carbon steel with a beautiful Damascus patter & has two narrow fuller on both side of the blade. The scabbard is made for quality hard wood covered with decorative fabric & is further decorated with design carrying fitments such as the chape, locket & suspension rings which can be used for looping around ones waist.
